Porst was a large retail chain of Photographic stores in Germany. Like Jessops in the UK, they stocked products from all the major manufacturers, as well as products branded with the Porst name. Like many companies that did this, they sourced products from other manufacturers and sold them under licence with their own brand name. One of those manufacturers was the quality German brand of super 8 cameras, Bauer.
This particular model is based on the Bauer compact range of silent super 8 cameras from the late 1970s. You have an excellent and sharp f1,8 7.5/45mm zoom lens, automatic and maual exposure control. Shooting speeds of 9, 18 and 40fps (slow motion). You also have a backlight button for those situations where you have a bright background, and want better exposure on your subject in the foreground. You also have a fade button. It runs on just 4 AA batteries, and weighs 1kg.
All in all an excellent entry level camera.
All cameras on this site are sold as fully working and fully serviced unless stated otherwise in the descriptions.
